Touched by Fire – A Celebration of Art Created by People with Mood Disorders*
The Mood Disorders Association of Ontario (MDAO) is organizing its second annual art exhibition, Touched by Fire, to celebrate the work of Ontario artists who suffer from a mood disorder (depression/bipolar). All pieces will be provided by artists living with, or recovered from, a mood disorder. We are encouraging the public to participate in this unique and widespread event by encouraging and assisting artists to enter and by passing this information on to others who may be interested.
Please note that this is *NOT **a fund-raiser* for MDAO. Rather, it is an opportunity to celebrate the creative works of individuals with mood disorders. All proceeds from art sales will go directly to the respective artist/representative. In addition to the Show and Sale, MDAO has developed an on-line gallery, www.touchedbyfire.ca , where we will showcase the artists’ work on an on-going basis.
This exhibit is sponsored by corporate and personal donations and is being held in memory of Rebecca Burghardt, a Toronto artist who lost her life to a long, debilitating mood disorder.
Last year’s Touched by Fire Show and Sale was a huge success with over 70% of all artists selling their works. By everyone’s standard, this event is an extraordinary showcase for individuals with mood disorders to display their resilience, their passion, and above all, their creativity.
The exhibition will run from November 13-15, 2008 at the Gladstone Hotel where a by-invitation opening will be held on November 13th , 2008.

I, George Mitchell, would like to intoduce myself to your organization. I am a board member with Mood Disorders Ottawa Mutual Support Group (MDO) and met Karen Liberman your Executive Director when she came to Peterborough searching for a Headstrong speaker.
Ms. Sabrina Hammer, Miss Ontario 2009, has reminded me that she will be speaking at your event this year. I met Ms. Sabrina Hammer at an event held at the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group (ROHCG) in early October 2008. Regretably that event was not taped and Ms. Hammer and I discussed how nice it would have been to put her speach on our website.
I am wondering if you will be taping your event and if I could get a copy. I would also like to be able to attend your event if you could send me a pair of tickets.
